CARP Hawaii: Awakening Our True Selves

Contributed by: Rena Saito

From December 16th - 18th, the CARP leaders finished the year strong with their semesterly retreat called Awaken, under the theme, “Find My True Self.” The retreat is a place where participants come to learn more about the Divine Principle to learn and grow in their relationship with God. The retreat spanned over three days and the content was given by the CARP leaders and a couple of young adult volunteers.

Throughout the retreat, there were 10 participants with a few from out of state.

One returning participant shared that, “it was a good experience to elaborate on our understanding of the Bible and to see different viewpoints!”

A first-time participant also expressed that, “Learning things that [people] do not explain in churches really helped to open my eyes and make me want to do better and tell people around me. The discussion and reflections really help to think more about the situation that was explained and learn what others' perspectives were. I really enjoyed bonding with everyone.”

By the end of the retreat, the participants became great friends with one another and enjoyed each other's company.
