CARP Bay Area: Find My Purpose, Change the World

Our 7-Day retreat from June 1st to the 7th was a major success! Nineteen participants were able to unwind from the busy semester and reconnect with nature, others, and their faith at Heavenly Hills Christian Camp.

The theme of the retreat was “Find My Purpose, Change the World.” The aim was for participants to find direction in their lives by experiencing revival through love and truth, and seek to contribute to the culture of CARP.

Participants were given Divine Principle presentations by Kazuya Morita and Markus Von Euw, who shared the significance of the Principle in our lives and the world. This was followed up by meaningful discussions in teams where they were able to bond and create authentic relationships as brothers and sisters. The activities between the presentations created a fun and familial atmosphere.

Skit night was a highlight for many participants as they laughed and enjoyed watching the creative works of their peers. Teams were able to showcase their creativity, teamwork, and the principles they learned.

Many of the participants were able to gain valuable insights into their own faith. “I learned that God can actually suffer like us, which has never really crossed my mind till this retreat,” shared Mikey Moore. Many participants also made determinations for their steps forward. Maria Hidalgo Rodas shared, “Therefore, instead of walking life on my own, I want to walk with my community and others that show God’s love.”

Through the retreat, many participants were able to create close relationships and be vulnerable with one another. Our testimony night highlighted this as the retreat came to a close. Many openly shared the struggles they faced in their lives with the group, but also expressed their gratitude and feelings of hope as they felt that God led them to CARP.

Estepanie De Lacruz shared in her reflection what she learned about herself and God. “I’m meant to be here and have this experience to restore my faith and talk to the people I meet. I learned great principles that are very honorable to follow. My purpose isn’t fully realized by me yet! But I can do my best to be kind, helpful, and caring to everyone, especially my family as God originally intended.”

Five of the participants have joined the “actionizing” program after the retreat to further their faith and to put the principle they learned into practice. Participants will be living at the CARP center where they will be practicing life of faith habits such as prayer and reading scripture. This is a first for CARP Bay Area and we are very excited and grateful for God’s guidance through this retreat!
